SUMMER CURRICULUM:

RE - The Way, The Truth and The Life

The children will learn about  'The Transforming Spirit' and  how we are all 'Called To Serve'. These topic will focus on the call to early Christians to spread the Word of God and how we can learn from their example today. 

English and Maths

This will be taught every morning - In English, we will working hard to prepare for our Reading and SpaG SATs tests as well as continuing with developing our writing skills. 

In Maths, children will continue to cover aspects of the curriculum, such as co-ordinates, measure, angles and statistics, as well as daily practice of arithmetic in order to prepare for the upcoming SATs tests. 

RHE

During this Summer term, we will cover our RHE topics, which includes exploring gifts and talents and our identities, puberty and growing up, how to take care of ourselves physically and mentally, as well as how to manage relationships in the real world and online. 

Foundation Subjects

In Art, children will study marine art. 

In ICT, we will finish off our topic of Spreadsheets and learn how to create 3D models. 

In Geography, we will be thinking about the geography of South America and the Galapagos Islands which will link with our Science work. LAter in the term in HIstory, the children will be learning about the impact of WW2 on Blacon and our local area. 

In Science, we will discover more about Charles Darwin and his work on evolution. We will also study Electricity and Electrical Systems. 

In PE, we will learn the skills of hockey and children will also continue to explore their gymnastics skills. After the May half term, Y6 will resume their swimming lessons.  Children will need to bring into school in their full St Theresa’s P.E. kits on Monday (indoor) and Wednesday (outdoor). A red t-shirt, navy or black shorts, jogging bottoms or leggings and a pair of trainers. Children can wear their navy St. Theresa’s jumper or cardigans over their PE kits to keep warm.
