Prayer and Liturgy
At St. Theresa’s, we provide daily opportunities to know, love and serve God in such a way that will enrich children’s lives and help them to understand our faith traditions in an ever changing world within the multicultural society we live in. Through prayer and liturgy, we are responding in words and actions to God’s invitation to enter into a loving relationship with Him, made possible through the work of Jesus Christ and the witness of the Holy Spirit.
In line with our legal requirement, and more importantly, our faith commitments, prayer takes place daily. This can be through class daily prayers, spontaneous prayers or whole school celebrations. We aim to guide our children on their individual faith journey no matter what that journey looks like by celebrating God’s presence in our lives.
Times of Prayer and Liturgy happen in many different forms at St. Theresa’s which include:
Celebration of Mass. This is most often at our church but may also be within school.
Sacramental preparation.
Weekly whole school Celebration of the Word linked to Sunday’s Gospel.
Class Celebration of the Word.
Celebration assembly.
Liturgical focus e.g. Advent Mass and Holy Week reflections.
Formal prayers e.g. praying the Angelus during May and the Rosary during October and Lent.
Spontaneous prayer and reflections.
Staff and governor prayer and reflections.
