School Prayers

As a Catholic school, prayer is very important to us.  We start and end each prayer with the sign of the cross:

“In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.  Amen.”

We aim for all children to be familiar with traditional prayers such as The Lord’s Prayer and The Hail Mary.

In each class, each day begins with the Mission Together prayer and the prayer of St. Richard. Classes also pray before and after lunch and at the end of the school day as follows:

Share friendship, and live

In the peace

Of God’s love

Now and forever

                            Amen

Prayer of St. Richard

Day by day, oh dear Lord

3 things I pray.

To see you more clearly,

To love you more dearly,

And follow you more nearly,

Day by day.

Prayer before meals

Bless us O God as we sit together,

Bless the food we eat today,

Bless the hands that made the food,

Bless us O God,

Amen

Prayer after meals

Heavenly Father, kind and good,
We thank you for our daily food.
We thank you for your love and care.
Be with us Lord, and hear our prayer.
Amen.

Prayer at the end of the day

Oh my God,

We have come to say,

Thank you for your love today,

Thank you for my family,

And all the friends you give to me.

Guard me in the dark of night

And in the morning send your light.

Amen
